At Elsevier, we are continuously investing in improving the quality of our data, as we know that access to quality data is key for institutions to take strategic decisions, showcase their output, and support their staff perform their jobs optimally.
We also know that different use cases require accessing the data in different formats or through different means of delivery. For example, while an API is ideal for programmatic access by a third party system, it is less optimal for users trying to analyze the data in a BI tool. For this reason, we have been exploring new ways to access the data, in different formats and via different (simpler / more optimal) delivery mechanisms.
As part of this exploration, we have been piloting a new approach, called Data Fetcher, which is meant to allow users with no technical skills to access data in the format they need. Currently, we are piloting the Data Fetcher tool with a closed group of users and have paused distribution.
